My Outlook (part of Office suite) consistently shows unread mail in my inbox. My inbox has about 7 emails, all read. Settings are done so that it marks. Also, right-click the inbox or any email folders, click on properties and check if show number of unread items is selected. Hope this helps. Let us know if you.
